Cacharel

Met with Cacharel last night. I was all wound up that the reception was going to be terrible. However, after trying all the food we're going to serve, I feel much better.

The menu will now include hors dourves passed while the guests are waiting for J & me to arrive after pictures, caesar salad, a chicken entree with eggplant in a cabernet sauce (absolutely delicious!), green beens with almonds, a pasta station - two kinds of pasta and two sauces as well as the cakes. And, of course, wine and beer.

So, Jean-Claude is forgiven and I am a happy bride again.

Favors

I would highly recommend the Pouch Depot if you are looking to purchase any drawstring organza bags for favors. Their prices are great. The customer service was excellent and the product arrived promptly. AND *gush* they are just so darn cute.

On a totally different note, tell me if I'm wrong: one ought not wear white to someone else's wedding, correct? What if one is my mother?

I mean, she'd never heard about the white rule, and she's totally not being Crazy Mom who can't stand being upstaged by the bride, it was just the first MOBby dress she found that wasn't frumpy or spangly. We don't wear pink because it turns us pink, and blue's not a favorite, and black isn't appropriate. But it is rather champagne (same color as my dress), and also the top is lace. It's kind of bridal, and I'm having both of my parents walk me in.

Should she find something else?

I appear to be on the verge of negotiating the contract for the ceremony/reception hall AND I found a dress, all in the same day. I've had a photographer looming for a couple of weeks, pending reception contract, and hopefully she's still available.

My sedate Saturday afternoon garden wedding with the plain dress and no photographer is now a Friday night dessert and dancing shindig with photographer and a dress that I have seen numerous versions of online and said "oh, please". Poet sleeves, people - and yet, bare shoulders. The anti-Lyn dress. It ought to be a travesty, but I tried it on while trying to figure out sizes and...ah. Sparkles, too.

In the "learn from my mistakes" department: for the love of all that is holy, shave your pits before going to the dress store. Also, wear nice underwear. That poor woman earned her commission, I tell you.

This means that the tenative date is now Friday April 16.

The heat's on for me to find a location and get a date set in stone. I'm trying, but it's all making me very cranky. Next time I get cranky, I'm sending everyone this link:

If not, they're just neat. Could be cool for Christmas.
